The Educational System gets an F!

I know too many people who have graduated high school and yet cannot read or spell or have no understanding of grammar and usage. My good friend Ben Franklin is a shining example, I know him to be a brilliant man, far ahead of his time, yet the educational system failed to teach him what he needs to properly express himself in writing. Please don't take offense Ben. He is not alone, probably millions of people graduated high school without the proper education they deserve. Why does this happen, because teachers dont care. They dont care, they just want that child to pass, because it makes them look good. If a teacher is honestly failing students, the school administration thinks that teacher must be a failure. So to keep their jobs they are passing kids who should be held back. I know that no parent wants to hear that their child is being held back, but think about it, maybe it's best for your child. After all, every child develops at their own pace. Let's reform the educational system, so that every child graduates with all the tools necessary to be an intelligent adult in a modern world. A little about myself, I dropped out of high school, it was the biggest mistake of my life. However high school let me down, the education I was getting was substandard. I taught myself all those necessary tools, sometimes the hardest way I could find. I grew to understand that I should have stayed in high school, because even a substandard education is better than nothing. I consider myself an intelligent person today thanks to what I learned in school and what life taught me. In high school I only had one class that really challenged my mind, the rest were mindless repitition. Mr. Betts history class, was where I learned to really open my mind to new ideas and theories. He was a great teacher and the reason I still love history today. Thank you Mr. Betts. If only all teachers could be like him.

Power Corrupts Absolutely

I'll bet your saying it's "Absolute Power, Corrupts Absolutely". I submit to you that any power corrupts absolutely. If you have the ability to vote a pay raise to yourself, you will. Thus all elected officials should not get paid to do the job they so desperately campaigned for. It should be considered doing what is right by the people. Considering that in this day and age most individuals who get elected have a goodly amount of wealth to begin with. If they were not allowed to be bought off or to give themselves the peoples moneys then maybe they would find some pride and honor in their endeavours and do finally what is right for their constituents. The act of receiving money or lavish gifts while holding an elected office should be a federal offense. This would end lobbyist buying votes to serve their corporate masters. The president himself should have no income from the job of president. Full disclosure of all assets and a background check conducted by an independent organization should be given to the people for all men and women attempting to be elected to a position. The American citizens should have access to all the facts about the individuals, and not make these critical decisions based on campaign ads and rhetoric. Serving your nation as an elected official should be an honor and a privilege, and those elected should do everything in their power to do what is right and just according to the people who elect them. If the people find fault or dishonor with their elected representative then they should have the right to file petition for a new election. The law should always support the people and not the politicians.

P.S.
On the subject of patriotism and what defines it, I submit what I believe to be true. A patriot is any person who knows right from wrong, and is willing to die to see justice done. A patriot is not proud of his country, a patriot loves the people of his community or nation and will go out of his way to do right by them. Even at the expense of his own life or freedom.

My elaboration on patriotism

I think i should elaborate on my veiw of patriotism.

I recently viewed a wiki article on patriotism. The article claims that it IS to be proud of your country. There for two waring countrys should not fight because they are both patriotic. WRONG!

Also i watched V for Vendetta. Wonderful flick. The movie never once mentioned patriotism. The movie only glorifies Freedom of oppression. freedome to live with your rights earned at birth. RIGHT!

Another good movie (i read the book as well) is Braveheart. This movie also preaches freedom. Patriotism defined on screen.

Patriotism is not to be proud of your country.

It is the freedom to witch country you choose.
The freedom to witch god you worship.
The freedom of what you say.
It is the idea of FREEDOM and your reasons to fight for it.

The country you choose to be proud of is your loyalty not your patriotism.
I am loyal to this great nation i call home. Good ol' America, but that does not mean i beleive my government has not corupted itself. It has and needs a change. A change in the direction of freedom. My patriotism is flaring for the old to become the new. Flaring to shake this great nation.

Here Me Out

Ponder upon my words.

The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic. Sell not liberty to purchase power.

I agree to this Constitution, with all its Faults, if they are such; because I think a General Government necessary for us, and there is no Form of Government but what may be a Blessing to the People if well administered; and I believe farther that this is likely to be well administered for a Course of Years, and can only end in Despotism as other Forms have done before it, when the People shall become so corrupted as to need Despotic Government, being incapable of any other.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!

These are words that every American should take to heart.

What is a patriot?

What does it mean to you, to be a patiot? ask yourself and think carefully about it. is being a patriot to you mean having a flag out front your house? is this the quota you need to fill? Seems to me that this is the general idea. Well for me that is not enuff. You should not fly old glory if you have no patriotism.

being a patriot means standing up for freedom. it is attention to civic duty and rejection of corruption.

after asking a random stranger what it meant to him he replied. "Being really proud of your counrty." I emplore no.. i challenge you as a citizen of this great nation to make it something to be proud of.

Dear America,

I must admit that the state of the union seemed at first to be in dire straits. However there is hope. The President-Elect Barack Obama seems to be a man of some distinct character, and a great multitude of people are hanging their hopes for the future on this mans Presidency. He ran a campaign calling for change and it resonated with the people. Let us all pray that this change is for the better. I consider myself blessed to be present at such a great time in American history. The people we once ignorantly enslaved are now free and out of their masses a great man who has potential to be one of the greatest men in American history has attained the highest office in the land. This must surely be a time where all Americans come together with hope in our hearts and unity in our minds with total disregard to race, color, creed. The future holds great hope but do not forget the past and the mistakes we made. Remember those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Let us all cherish what freedoms we have, and remember the freedoms we lost. May God bless and guide these United States so that freedom is never lost. Let this nation be a shining beacon of hope for all the oppressed and the lost.

The war on terror is already lost!

Your fear has won. You allowed your freedoms to be stripped away. Patriot Act, this should have been more correctly titled the Cowards Act. Giving away your inalienable rights because your afraid of terrorists? Terrorists strike with fear, and they have beaten you. Terrorists weapons of fear have defeated the brave soul that used to be America. You should all be ashamed. Not one of you has enough spirit to stand up and say enough of this. A great evil is sweeping the planet and it already devastated the bastion of freedom, how can the rest of the world stand if we cannot. Read the Constitution of the United States of America, get back your rights, take them by force if you must, they belong to you, God himself gave you these rights, no government has the right to limit your rights or to remove them entirely. You know that your government is corrupt, yet you do nothing about it. It is a citizens duty to overthrow a corrupt government. This nation was built on the blood of the true patriots, they changed the world because they were not afraid to fight for their freedom. If you know that the government is corrupt and you do nothing about it, it is tantamount to spitting on the grave of every American who died defending your rights. You shame them with your fear and complacency.
If you will not fight for your rights then you must not call yourself an American, real Americans are brave and will not hesitate to fight for your rights, they willingly give their lives for this nation.
