Dear America,

I must admit that the state of the union seemed at first to be in dire straits. However there is hope. The President-Elect Barack Obama seems to be a man of some distinct character, and a great multitude of people are hanging their hopes for the future on this mans Presidency. He ran a campaign calling for change and it resonated with the people. Let us all pray that this change is for the better. I consider myself blessed to be present at such a great time in American history. The people we once ignorantly enslaved are now free and out of their masses a great man who has potential to be one of the greatest men in American history has attained the highest office in the land. This must surely be a time where all Americans come together with hope in our hearts and unity in our minds with total disregard to race, color, creed. The future holds great hope but do not forget the past and the mistakes we made. Remember those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Let us all cherish what freedoms we have, and remember the freedoms we lost. May God bless and guide these United States so that freedom is never lost. Let this nation be a shining beacon of hope for all the oppressed and the lost.

Respectfully Yours,
Thos. Jefferson
