A note about the American family

The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home. Confucius said that. It is apparent that there are far too many young men and women having children and not standing up to the job of parent. The American family should consist of a mother, a father, and children. Unfortunately the reality is quite different. How can we change a culture of immediate satisfaction, they commit the act and society does not hold them responsible for the children they procreate. I am certain that many of these young men who are promiscuous and then irresponsible, learned the behaviour from absentee fathers. This is a very serious problem, if no one is standing up to be a father, then the world will fall into chaos. I say kudos to any man who is raising his children actively in the role of father. I say even greater praise for any man parenting a child that another man made and then failed to parent. The problem is not just on men. How many grandmothers are raising their grandchildren? Women who are promiscuous also have a habit of absenteeism. It's the "me" generation, they are too busy with themselves to be responsible for their actions. If only their were some way to prevent these irresponsible selfish people from having babies. Ah, but there is a way, birth control, these people need birth control. I understand that there are many forms of birth control, and you can get it free from the health department. Then all that is needed is education and a law saying that if you make a child you will be held to responsibility. DNA testing will ensure that the correct parent is being held responsible. I mean responsible, not just child support. Even if your child gets lots of money, from the support, they still do not have a parental role model. Maybe if someone held these people to their responsibilities, they wont be so promiscuous, maybe they will learn that any person can have sex, but it takes a responsible human being to be a parent.

Yours respectfully
Thos. Jefferson

To my commentor and friend: No where in this letter does it say we should outlaw promiscuity, the only mention of law is to make people responsible for the children they create, considering that birth control is easily accesible for all sexes. You may have as many partners you want, however if you ignorantly fail to use birth control then you must be held responsible, at the very least financially, and theres already a law to enforce child support payments.
